Cardi B and Kehlani have another major award to celebrate after their collaboration Safe won Best Hip-Hop at the MTV Video Music Awards. Neither artist was at the ceremony to accept the honor in person.
Following the awards, Cardi B reacted to the win on Instagram Stories and reflected on the work behind the Safe music video. She noted that she filmed the visual while seven months pregnant, adding another layer to the achievement. She also thanked MTV for the recognition and said she intends to attend the VMAs next year.
The victory gives Safe a notable place in the history of the category. Cardi B and Kehlani became the first collaboration between two women to take home the Best Hip-Hop award.
