Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, also known as Raygun, announced her retirement from competing following the backlash she received for her performance at the Paris Olympics. “It’s just not gonna mean the same thing,” she said. “It’s not going to be the same experience because of everything that’s at stake.” She also emphasized her decision to no longer pursue future Olympic performances due to the backlash. “It was really upsetting because I felt like I just didn’t have any control over how people saw me — or who I was, who my partner was, my story.” While she continues to dance and break in her own space, she is now focusing on other projects that promote creativity.
