Bob Geldof has defended Ed Sheeran amid controversy surrounding the singer’s tour, while also expressing admiration for Macklemore’s public support for Palestinians.
Speaking about the dispute, Geldof described Sheeran as a good man and said artists should be free to decide whether they want to address political issues from the stage. His comments followed tensions around Macklemore’s removal from the tour after the rapper made pro-Palestinian statements during performances.
Geldof also voiced support for Macklemore and musicians who chose to withdraw from the tour following the decision. He directed much of his criticism toward promoters and venue management rather than Sheeran himself.
