Scooter Braun has revisited the public fallout over Taylor Swift’s former masters, saying in a recent podcast interview that the backlash made him feel like he became a villain overnight.
During the conversation, Braun said he does not really know Swift personally and had only met her a few times before the dispute became a major pop culture story. His comments centered on the 2019 sale of Big Machine Records, a deal that gave him control of the masters for Swift’s first six albums.
Swift publicly objected to the sale at the time, saying she had not been given a fair chance to buy her own work. The dispute became one of the most closely watched ownership battles in modern music and helped push wider discussion about artists’ rights.
