During a recent interview, McCartney said he heard the recording years ago and remembered it as a rehearsal take with a rockier feel than the original. He also praised Prince’s guitar work, describing the performance as powerful and full of energy.
McCartney said he may reach out to Prince’s estate to see whether anything can be done with the recording. There is no confirmed release plan at this point, and no official announcement has been made by the estate.
