Melissa Auf der Maur, former bassist for Hole and touring member of the Smashing Pumpkins, has announced the upcoming publication of her first book, Even the Good Girls Will Cry: A ’90s Rock Memoir, which is set for release on March 17, 2026, via Da Capo. The book blends autobiography, travel diary, and psychedelic scrapbook, chronicling her journey from Montreal’s creative scene to playing pivotal roles in iconic ’90s rock bands during a transformative era in music. Auf der Maur calls the memoir, “a love letter to the power of music and one-of-a-kind voices that make the world a cooler place,” while adding that it documents “what our generation witnessed, and what the world once was, in my hope of building a more livable future together.” The memoir also features “rare, behind-the-scenes photos” from throughout her career, and includes cameos from music legends like Stevie Nicks, Dave Grohl, Michael Stipe. Pre-orders for the book are currently ongoing. (Consequence of Sound)
