Bruce Springsteen surprised fans by joining longtime bandmate Steven Van Zandt on stage at the ‘Party at the Pony’ benefit concert in Asbury Park, New Jersey, on Sunday night (October 26). The two music legends joined the house band to perform Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes’ classic, “I Don’t Want to Go Home,” Eddie Floyd’s “Raise Your Hand,” and Springsteen’s Born to Run anthem, “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” The event was a benefit for TeachRock, Van Zandt’s nonprofit dedicated to enhancing music education in classrooms, and featured members of the E Street Band family and special guest musicians like Jesse Malin, Darlene Love, and Gary US Bonds. Springsteen’s appearance at The Stone Pony comes shortly after he walked the red carpet at the premiere of the biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, which hit theaters on Friday (October 24), coinciding with the release of his new box set, Nebraska ‘82: Expanded Edition.
