On Thursday (October 16), Rancid released their punk-infused cover of Motörhead’s “Sex and Death” as the final preview for the tribute album, Killed by Deaf – A Punk Tribute to Motörhead, which is set to drop on October 31st. The song, originally from Motörhead’s 1995 album, Sacrifice, fits Rancid’s style perfectly, with frontman Lars Frederiksen noting its Ramones-inspired sound and similarity to their own musical style. “It’s the perfect Motörhead song for me,” said Frederiksen via a press release. “And it was the most Rancid style song that Motörhead did that I thought it’s close enough to la song we would write.” This track follows Pennywise’s previously released cover of “Ace of Spades,” with the album also featuring contributions from The Bronx, Lagwagon, FEAR, GBH, and others, plus an unearthed collaboration between late singer Lemmy Kilmister and The Damned on “Neat Neat Neat,” which was released when the album was announced back in September.
