Former Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon has publicly discussed her diagnosis with geographic tongue during a People magazine interview. The condition causes tongue patches to shed, creating an atlas-like appearance, which McKinnon described as “gross.” She revealed sending tongue photos to an actor friend who shares the same condition, saying “We brag about how geographic we are on any given day. Maybe I shouldn’t be saying this in a magazine.” Geographic tongue is an inflammatory but harmless condition where missing papillae create patches that move across the tongue surface. While generally painless, it can increase sensitivity to spices, salt and sweets. (Story URL)
