During a new interview on Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk, Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo shared his memories of the private funeral for Ozzy Osbourne that took place on July 31 at the Osbourne estate. Trujillo, who played in Ozzy’s solo band in the late 1990s, described the funeral as a small but “very, very beautiful” gathering attended by family, close friends, and musicians, including the surviving members of Black Sabbath – Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward — as well as Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Zakk Wylde, Marilyn Manson, and more. Trujillo said the service included numerous emotional moments along with humorous speeches, culminating in Butler’s tearful yet powerful eulogy. He described the ceremony’s weather shifting from rain to sun during key moments, including a gust of wind blowing away the lyric sheet while Ozzy’s daughter Kelly Osbourne was singing. “It was almost like Ozzy was having fun with her,” Trujillo recalled. The private service followed a public procession in Birmingham on July 30, where thousands paid respects to the late Prince of Darkness, who died from a heart attack on July 22.
