Taylor Swift‘s beloved Folklore collaboration with Bon Iver, “Exile,” was not a regular feature on The Eras Tour setlist. During the few times she surprised audiences by performing the song live, fans passionately filled in for Justin Vernon‘s vocals. During an appearance on The Tonight Show on Wednesday (April 2), Vernon said that even though they never got the chance to sing it together on Swift’s tour, Vernon was amazed at the crowd’s rendition, saying it was an “out of body” experience. “I saw those clips and I’m like, ‘Gosh, they sound better than one of me can sound,’” Vernon admitted. “It was pretty powerful to just see that and to hear how that sounded. It was amazing.” Swift did make a rare appearance at a 2022 Bon Iver concert in London to perform “Exile” with Vernon and her frequent collaborator, Aaron Dessner, with Taylor describing them as “the most talented men in the world.” Vernon is set to release his fifth Bon Iver album, SABLE, fABLE, on April 11.
