Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell are in talks to star in a remake of the 1992 thriller drama Single White Female, taking over the roles originated by Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The remake, which will also be produced by both Ortega and Russell, marks a departure from the original by featuring a non-white cast. Both stories are based on John Lutz’s 1990 novel SWF Seeks Same. In the original film, Fonda portrayed Allison, a woman who welcomes Hedra (played by Leigh) as a roommate, only to discover that she is a dangerous stalker. The film had a budget of $16 million and grossed $48 million domestically. It spawned a direct-to-video sequel in 2005. (THR)
