The unpublished writings of late Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley, which features “never-before-seen poetry, raw handwritten lyrics, intimate scribblings, and heartfelt notes,” will be published in an upcoming 176-page book titled, This Angry Pen: The Lost Journals of Layne Staley. The book will be released on November 11th via Weldon Owen Publishing and distributed by Simon & Schuster, and provides a glimpse into Staley’s inner thoughts, emotions, and creative process through his never-before-seen writing, original artwork, and candid photos. “His story, told through his own words, creations, and the lives he forever changed, is a testament to the enduring power of music, art, and the human spirit,” reads the book description on Simon & Schuser’s website. Staley, who passed away in 2002, left behind a lasting legacy with Alice in Chains, and his journals will provide fans with a unique opportunity to connect with his artistry and humanity in a new light.
