Filmmaker James Wan, known for creating blockbuster horror franchises like Saw and The Conjuring, is developing a new version of the classic Universal monster film, The Creature From The Black Lagoon. Wan is in talks to direct the remake himself, after previously expressing his desire to return to his horror roots following several years working on Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom. Previous attempts to revive the Creature character have been made since the 1980s, but Wan’s version is expecting to be a “grounded, modernized retelling that will lean into visceral horror,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
