Legendary Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman has reworked and adapted some of the prog rock classics from his former band that will be featured in a new, limited edition vinyl release. Yessonata is set to be released on October 4 via Esoteric Records. The project represents an entirely new piece composed for piano by Wakeman that is drawn from melodies of various Yes tracks. Wakeman’s inspiration for Yessonata was his new medley, “The Yes Suite,” which the keyboardist adapted for performance by his current touring band and choir. They performed “The Yes Suite” at Wakeman’s celebrated concert at the London Palladium, and have continued to perform that number at subsequent live shows. Wakeman has also been performing Yessonata during the music icon’s Final One Man Solo Tour of North and South America earlier this year. Additional dates on Wakeman’s farewell tour start up on October 3 and continue across the US through November 2. (Louder Sound)
