Jonathan Majors has landed his first major acting role since being convicted of domestic assault and fired from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’ll star in the independent revenge thriller Merciless, directed by Martin Villeneuve (the younger brother of Dune director Denis Villeneuve.) The film follows a CIA investigator seeking justice after his loved one falls victim to sinister forces. Filming is expected to begin in Saskatchewan in late fall of this year, but scheduling conflicts may arise due to Majors’ mandatory, in-person, 52-week court-ordered domestic violence counseling in Los Angeles following his guilty verdict in April. Merciless is being backed by Sound Of Freedom producer Christopher Tuffin, who “refuses to let the court of public opinion and selective prosecution undermine great art and artists.” (Variety)
