Quick Takes: David Bowie, Yes, Peter Criss

The trailer to the new David Bowie documentary, Moonage Daydream by director Brett Morgen, has been released ahead of its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. North American cable and streaming rights have been licensed to HBO and HBO Max. No premiere date has been announced. (Press release)
Yes drummer Alan White will sit out of the band's “50th Anniversary Close To The Edge UK Tour” due to unspecified health issues. Filing in for him will be Jay Schellen, who's previously drummed for White back in 2016 after undergoing back surgery. Schellen has also worked with Asia and World Trade. A statement from the band, read: “Alan was really looking forward to playing live again preparing to celebrate 50 years with Yes, having joined the band for the July 1972 Close To The Edge tour, coming full circle in 2022. Alan’s close friend Jay Schellen will be taking on drumming duties in Alan’s place.” (Loudersound)
On Sunday night (May 22nd) Kiss' co-founding drummer Peter Criss popped up at Manhattan's Cutting Room for a quick three-song set. Criss, who was unable to pay drums due to a recent knee surgery, joined Australian glam rockers Sisters Dolls for run-throughs of “Don't You Let Me Down” and “You Matter To Me” from the 1978 Peter Criss album — along with “Words” off his 1980 Out Of Control collection.
