UPDATE: BTS’ FANBASE MATCH THEIR $1M BLACK LIVES MATTER DONATION: BTS‘ fanbase have matched their $1 million donation (and then some) to the Black Lives Matter movement. The K-Pop band and their label Big Hit Entertainment threw their financial support behind the campaign in light of the death of George Floyd, but decided to remain tight-lipped about their donation. But when word got out, the BTS Army raised over $1 million in 24 hours after the #MatchAMillion initiative was launched by Twitter user @Monosplaylist with the help of One In An Army – a BTS fan collective. Fans have been donating to the likes of NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, The National Bailout Collective and Black Aids Institute. One In An Army described the Army’s “support” as “overwhelming” and vowed to continue the campaign.
JASON MRAZ & DIPLO AMONG CONTESTANTS ON NEW COMPETITION SERIES ‘CELEBRITY SHOW-OFF’: Jason Mraz and Diplo are among the stars that will be competing on Celebrity Show-Off, a new TBS series hosted by The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik, stars will be judged on the content they’re able to produce from their own homes. In each episode, five stars will attempt to attract and engage the most online viewers with little digital “shows,” in an effort to remain “on the air,” and avoid “going dark.” The shows will debut on TBS’s YouTube channel the day after the show premieres on June 23rd, and will then be scored based on views, time spent viewing and social engagement. Each week, the lowest-performing star will be eliminated, and replaced by a “surprise celebrity newcomer.” The star who sticks around the longest will raise the most money for their favorite charity, and will receive an extra donation. The list of talent signed up for the showcase so far also includes Ja Rule, Action Bronson, Gabi Butler, Dwight Howard, Travis Kelce, Nene Leakes, Kevin Smith, Tori Spelling, Bella Thorne, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah Willis.
OMI RETURNS WITH NEW SONG ‘BRING MY BABY BACK’: Jamaican artist OMI, whose upbeat No. 1 hit “Cheerleader” was Billboard’s Song of the Summer for 2015, is back with a new single. The song, “Bring My Baby Back,” has an animated video to go along with it. It’s about a guy who’s sad because he doesn’t know where his girlfriend has gone. “Bring My Baby Back” follows the dance track “I Want You,” released in December 2019.
