Ocean Way Festival will no longer take place in Santa Monica on September 26 and 27 after severe beach erosion made the planned festival site unsuitable for the event.
In announcing the cancellation, organizers said surf and storm runoff connected to Hurricane Marie significantly reduced the amount of usable beach space. The conditions left the site unable to safely support the stages, equipment, infrastructure, and crowds required for the two-day festival.
The inaugural Ocean Way Festival was scheduled for the beach south of the Santa Monica Pier. The lineup included The Killers, Olivia Dean, Jack White, Khruangbin, Sublime, Durand Jones and the Indications, Alvvays, and several other artists.
