Amazon MGM is developing a “modern reimagining” of the 1987 comedy Baby Boom, six weeks after original star Diane Keaton died from pneumonia at age 79. Michael Showalter will direct the project. The original film starred Keaton as a workaholic businesswoman forced to raise her cousin’s baby. Nancy Meyers wrote the screenplay and Charles Shyer directed the original, which grossed $26 million worldwide on a $15 million budget. The movie earned Golden Globe nominations for Best Comedy and Best Actress for Keaton. Cast members and screenwriters for the remake have not been announced. Showalter previously directed The Big Sick and The Idea of You. (Story URL)
