The inaugural Future Ruins Festival, curated by Oscar-winning duo (and Nine Inch Nails bandmates) Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, has been cancelled due to “logistical challenges.” The event was scheduled to take place on November 8 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, and was set to feature a stellar lineup of top film composers, including Mark Mothersbaugh, John Carpenter, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Danny Elfman, and others performing their scores live. “Unfortunately Future Ruins will not move forward this year,” event organizers announced on Friday (October 3). “Due to a number of logistical challenges and complications, we feel we cannot provide the experience that’s defined what this event was always intended to be. Rather than compromise, we’re choosing to re-think and re-evaluate.” The festival announced that all ticket holders will receive automatic refunds. Meanwhile, Nine Inch Nails soundtrack to the upcoming film, TRON: Ares, debuted atop four Billboard charts. It reached No. 1 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Alternative Albums, Top Dance Albums, and Vinyl Albums charts, marking NIN’s best sales week ever on vinyl with 23,000 copies sold. The soundtrack also launched at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, marking the band’s seventh Top 10, and first since 2013’s Hesitation Marks debuted at No. 3. (Rolling Stone)
