In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Zak Starkey praised his dad, Ringo Starr, for showing support to his son after he was fired from The Who. “I’m very proud of him standing up for me,” said Starkey of his father, sharing that Starr has been a strong source of support throughout this ordeal. When he was asked what the Beatles’ legend thought about his situation with the Who, Starkey responded directly: “He said, ‘I’ve never liked the way that little man runs that band’,” apparently referring to lead singer Roger Daltrey. Despite his drawn-out termination from the Who, Starkey holds no grudges with his former bandmates, and has shifted his focus onto his new album with the rock supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos, featuring members of Happy Mondays and Oasis, and guest contributions from Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney — the sons of The Beatles’ John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
