On Tuesday (June 17), Motion City Soundtrack announced their first album in a decade, The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World, which is set to be released on September 17. The album marks the Minneapolis rock band’s seventh LP, and features the just-released lead single, “She Is Afraid,” accompanied by a Jesse Cain-directed music video. “I love the opening riff,” lead singer Justin Pierre said of the single. “I knew it was one of my favorite things the first time I heard Josh [Cain, guitarist] play it.” The album was produced by Sean O’Keefe, and features guest appearances from Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump and Citizen’s Mat Kerekes. “It’s a very interesting thing to feel like we made the most important record of our career this late in the game,” keyboardist Jesse Johnson says of the project. MCS celebrated their album announcement with a show at Mercury Lounge in New York City on Tuesday night. (Rolling Stone)
