The Simpsons will be reducing the number of episodes per season in the future. The decision was confirmed by the show’s producer, just after a new series order extended the show beyond its 40th season. Previously running for over 20 episodes per season, the upcoming seasons will now consist of 17 episodes each. Despite it’s age, the show remains popular, with the latest season still attracting around 3 million viewers per episode. The show has also spawned various related spin-offs, including video games and a theme park at Universal Studios. Season 36 concluded in May, with the next season expected to premiere in late September. (Nme)
