On Thursday (June 5), Talking Heads celebrated their 50th anniversary by releasing a new music video for “Psycho Killer,” the first song they wrote as a band. The clip is directed by Mike Mills and stars Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan. The band’s very first live performance was opening for the Ramones at CBGB on June 5, 1975, which helped launched the legendary career of the new wave icons. “Psycho Killer” originally appeared on the band’s beloved 1977 album, Talking Heads: 77. “This video makes the song better,” the band said in a statement. “We LOVE what this video is NOT – it’s not literal, creepy, bloody, physically violent or obvious.” Coinciding with their 50th anniversary, last week the band also announced a series of reissues of their 1978 album, More Songs About Buildings and Food, which are set to be released on July 25.
