Steve Perry has recorded a new version of Journey‘s “Faithfully” with Willie Nelson to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Farm Aid. This collaboration follows Perry’s previous recording of “Open Arms” with Dolly Parton in 2023, marking rare instances where the singer revisits music from his celebrated former band. “No one has a voice or vocal phrasing like Willie Nelson,” Perry says in a statement. “Singing this duet with Willie has been something I’ve always wanted to do. What a wonderful experience it was to finally sing with Willie.” Nelson adds, “Working with Steve Perry on ‘Faithfully’ was a meaningful experience. I’m proud that we could create something meaningful and use it to give back through Farm Aid.” The new version features Mike Rojas on piano, James Mitchell on electric guitar, Kent Wells on acoustic guitar, Scott Sanders on steel guitar, Steve Mackey on bass, Mickey Raphael on harmonica, and Nir Z on drums, with Patrick Atkins creating a wonderful animated video for the track.
