NBC will broadcast a live musical TV special featuring Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande singing songs from the film. The event at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles will precede the release of the sequel, Wicked: For Good, on November 21st. Director Jon M. Chu announced the special during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation, revealing that this will be the first time Wicked songs will be showcased in this format on TV. Erivo and Grande, along with surprise guests, will perform songs from both movies in a unique one-night event. Chu also previewed the unreleased trailer for Wicked: For Good, warning the crowd against cellphone use due to strict security measures. (Variety)
