Despite the recent police incident that led to bassist Scott Shriner‘s wife facing attempted murder charges, Weezer still delivered a high-energy performance at Coachella on Saturday afternoon (April 12). The band thrilled the crowd with classic hits like “Say It Ain’t So” and “Beverly Hills,” before surprising the crowd with a cover of Metallica‘s “Enter Sandman.” While Weezer’s 45-minute afternoon set was well-received by their die-hard fans, the performance was overshadowed by the controversial arrest of Jillian Lauren Shriner, who was booked for attempted murder last week following a shootout with police in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles. Weezer’s Coachella appearance kicks off a series of festival engagements for the band, featuring scheduled sets at Glastonbury, Soundside Festival, and When We Were Young festivals, as well as an upcoming European tour.
