Lil Wayne announced the official release date of Tha Carter VI with a throwback clip on social media, revealing that his long-awaited album will finally drop on June 6. The video features snippets from Wayne’s illustrious career, while also sharing a pre-order link for his new album that features a countdown clock ticking down to the release date. “I was put here for a reason. It might be hard to outdo myself, but it ain’t hard to do myself so that’s what I do,” the rapper says in an audio mashup from over the years. “They call me Weezy baby, if ya nasty. So now I’ma make these platinum plaques and I’ma teach the game.” The upcoming record marks the highly-anticipated follow-up to the last chapter in Weezy’s long-running series, C5, which arrived back in 2018, with the third, fourth, and fifth installments of Tha Carter each soaring to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Lil Wayne is set to perform with the Hot Boys and Big Tymers at J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival 2025 in North Carolina this weekend. (Billboard)
