Eminem has expressed interest in potentially joining a group bidding to bring a WNBA expansion team to his hometown of Detroit. The rapper would be part of a bid group featuring a series of other notable figures from the city, especially from the local sports scene. A rep for the 15-time Grammy winning musician confirmed that Eminem and his management have “expressed interest” and “discussed joining” the group, but “no deal has been finalized” as of yet. The bid group is purportedly spearheaded by Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores, and also includes the owners from the other major Detroit sports teams, who would lead Detroit’s effort to secure a WNBA franchise amidst the league’s expansion plans. Adam Sandler recently confirmed that Eminem will have a cameo appearance in Happy Gilmore 2, which arrives in July. “I’ve known Eminem for a long time, he’s a great guy and he came in and was funny as hell,” Sandler said on The Dan Patrick Show.
