Disney has canceled the Tiana animated musical series, an extension of The Princess and the Frog, that was intended for Disney+. While the studio didn’t comment on the series’ demise, the studio is working on a separate short-form special. Previously announced in December 2020 with Anika Noni Rose reprising her role as Tiana, the project faced creative challenges over the years, leading to minimal development progress. The original movie, set in 1920s New Orleans, recently became the basis of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride, which debuted at Disneyland in June 2024 — nearly 15 years after the film’s release.
