In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Liam Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry broke her silence about her volatile relationship with the late One Direction alum. Recalling their on-and-off relationship from 2018 to 2022, Henry admitted that “it was the drug use and addictions that tore us apart.” She described the challenges of being with an addict while witnessing Payne’s behavior change as he was under the influence. “While I loved him deeply, he did things that hurt me in ways I’ll never fully understand, and he continued to hurt me years after we broke up,” Henry shared, revealing that while Payne was on drugs “he became someone unrecognizable — so different from his sober self.” Payne died at age 31 in October 2024 after falling from his hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Toxicology reports revealed that the singer had traces of “alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants” in his system at the time of his death. (People)
