Eddie Vedder, Fiona Apple, Mumford & Sons, and Brandi Carlile are among the artists featured on an upcoming tribute album honoring Neil Young and benefiting The Bridge School. The album is titled Heart Of Gold: The Songs of Neil Young, and is the first volume of a planned two-album series. The record also includes covers by Sharon Van Etten, Lumineers, Steve Earle, and the Doobie Brothers with Allison Russell. To promote the album’s April 25th release, Courtney Barnett shared her cover of “Lotta Love,” while Young’s one-time opening act, Chris Pierce, offered up his take on “Southern Man.” “‘Lotta Love’ is one of my favorite Neil songs, and the lyrics feel especially relevant at this moment in history,” Barnett said in a statement. “It’s a real honor to be part of this tribute helping to raise funds for The Bridge School.” The Bridge School was co-founded by Neil’s late ex-wife Pegi, and remains focused on supporting individuals with severe speech and physical impairments.
