Nathaphon “Bon” Jutathaveewan of the Thai band Annalynn has admitted to faking having stomach cancer in order to pay off his debts. Back in July, Bon announced that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer, leading to an influx of financial donations and sales of fundraising merchandise, along with an increase in show bookings. The band and its record label encouraged fans to give donations in order to help with medical expenses, due to Bon “being from a third world country.” Jutathaveewan’s statement says he feigned his illness in order to get money to pay off personal debts and loans, while emphasizing that his bandmates and label had no involvement in his lies. “I deeply regret my actions and fully accept responsibility for the mistakes I have made” Bon wrote. “I am truly sorry for the harm and distress this has caused.” As a result of Bon’s admission, the band announced on Instagram that they have immediately suspended all activities.
