An English-language Squid Game series is in development at Netflix, with renowned director David Fincher on board. This marks the first scripted offshoot of the South Korean sensation and aligns with Fincher’s dark thriller aesthetic, also seen in classics like The Game and Se7en. While details are limited, it is likely that Fincher will focus on this project in 2025, contributing to expanding the Squid Game universe alongside an unscripted series and video game franchise. Dennis Kelly (Utopia) is rumored to be the writer for this series which may be set in the U.S. The original Squid Game is set to return for a new season on December 26th. (Deadline)
