Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Bones & All) will direct a new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel American Psycho, with Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum) penning the script. The project is not a remake but a fresh interpretation of the story focusing on investment banker Patrick Bateman’s double life as a serial killer. Guadagnino’s other recent works include Challengers and the upcoming Queer with Daniel Craig, while Burns has worked on projects like Extrapolations and The Report. At the Academy Museum Gala over the weekend, Monsters: The Lyle & Erik Menendez Story star Cooper Koch reacted to the news. “Luca’s doing American Psycho, so I think I can do Patrick Bateman,” he said when asked about what roles he’d like to take on next.
