In advance of the publication of Alex Van Halen’s highly anticipated memoir, Brothers, on October 22, Spotify has shared a moving clip from the audiobook which features the Van Halen drummer honoring his late brother and bandmate, Eddie Van Halen. “Without my brother I would not be,” Alex says in the 4-minute excerpt. “Music was our heart and soul. That’s what we did. That’s what we loved. That’s what we enjoyed. And that’s what we were good at. It was also the thing that made us as close as two brothers can be. It’s been almost four years since you passed, Ed, but sometimes it feels like it just happened this morning.” Alex is heading out on a brief book tour in support of Brothers, which includes signings on October 21st at Barnes & Noble Fifth Avenue in New York City and October 22nd at Books & Greetings in Northvale, New Jersey, along with a live talk on October 24th at the Frost Auditorium in Culver City, California.
