Jack Russell, the lead singer of Great White, has died at age 63, just a few weeks after he retired from touring after being diagnosed with Lewy body dementia and multiple system atrophy. Great White achieved chart success in the 1980s with hits including “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” “Rock Me,” and “The Angel Song.” The band split in 2001, after which Russell embarked on a solo career under the name Jack Russell’s Great White, including during the infamous 2003 venue fire in Rhode Island in which 100 fans perished. “Jack is loved and remembered for his sense of humor, exceptional zest for life, and unshakeable contribution to rock and roll where his legacy will forever thrive,” reads a statement from K.L.
