Rage Against the Machine’s guitarist Tom Morello has always been outspoken about causes he believes in and political actions he disagrees with. Now, he has challenged his fellow music fans to unite and make the world a better place. Speaking at a press conference for Hellfest 2024 in France over the weekend, Morello laid it all on the line. “There’s really one message that is a thread through all of my music, and that is: the world is not going to change itself. That is up to you,” Morello said. “Sometimes it seems like this sort of monolithic problem that we’ll never be able to get past. But you are not witnesses to history; you are agents of history. History is not something that happened; it’s something you make. Literally the fate of the planet is at stake over the course of the next few decades. So, it’s time for metalheads to get their sh*t together.” (Consequence of Sound)
