Nat Geo has announced a documentary called Jaws @ 50, about the making of Steven Spielberg’s iconic blockbuster and the writing of the bestselling novel by Peter Benchley. Set for summer 2025, the film will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the 1975 film. Directed by Laurent Bouzereau, the doc will delve into the behind-the-scenes story and include footage and photography from the archives of Benchley and Spielberg. It will also explore the cultural impact of the blockbuster and its influence on shark enthusiasts. The documentary is being made in collaboration with Wendy Benchley, an advocate for ocean conservation and marine policy and the wife of Peter Benchley. (THR)
