The long-awaited sequel to Spaceballs has been confirmed by Josh Gad, who will take a lead role, co-produce and co-write the script. Mel Brooks, who co-wrote, directed, produced, and acted in the original film, is returning to produce the sequel. Gad shared that the producers “worship at the alter of all things Brooks,” adding that working with the comedy legend has been a dream come true. Josh Greenbaum, the director of Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar, will direct the sequel with the assistance of co-writers Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, who joined Josh Gad in co-writing the screenplay. The project is said to be in the early stages of development at Amazon MGM Studios. (People)
