Netflix announced during an upfront presentation yesterday that Adam Sandler will return for a sequel to Happy Gilmore. The comedian had previously expressed interest in a follow-up to his 1996 movie about an angry hockey player who excels at golf, with the potential focus on a senior tournament. Christopher McDonald also hinted at Sandler working on a draft for the sequel, later confirmed by Drew Barrymore. Netflix did not reveal additional cast members or plot details, but it’s expected that McDonald will reprise his role as Shooter McGavin. Unfortunately, some other original cast members — including Carl Weathers, Joe Flaherty, and Bob Barker — have passed away. (Variety)
