Netflix is close to finalizing a deal for a live-action Scooby-Doo TV series. Plot details remain under wraps, but the script will be written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who previously adapted Cowboy Bebop and High Fidelity. But this won’t be the first live-action Scooby-Doo adaptation. The 2002 film Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini, was a surprise hit that earned over $250 million globally. In addition, Max currently airs the animated series Velma, with Mindy Kaling lending her voice to the character. Warner Bros. also recently made an animated film called Scoob! Holiday Haunt, but shelved it for a tax break.
