Machine Gun Kelly released a new signature guitar –shaped like a razorblade — earlier this week, and social media was quick to criticize, saying it “glorifies self harm.” He explained the inspiration behind the guitar at a recent show, calling it “an ode to my 20s and all the crazy times that I had.” It's also a reference to a line in his song 'Title Track:' “I use a razor to take off the edge, ‘Jump off the ledge,’ they said.” Kelly then responded to the backlash this week. “i'll never explain my art, because true art is conversational and always up for interpretation, but i will say, most of you constantly interpret it wrong. and then blame me for your version of what you think my art is,” he wrote. “ultimately i'm sad at how people perceive me in general. peace.”
