Google released its year-in-review 2023 lists on Monday, based on the top-trending searches in the U.S. Jason Aldean was the most-searched artist overall, followed by Ice Spice, Oliver Anthony, Peso Pluma, Joe Jonas, Sam Smith, Matt Healy, Kellie Pickler, Kim Petras, and Sexyy Red. If the absence of Taylor Swift and Beyonce seems strange, the lists only track “queries that had the highest spikes in traffic over a sustained period” in the last year to get a better snapshot of annual trends. The most-searched songs of the year were Aldean's controversial “Try That in a Small Town” at No. 1, while Ice Spice's “Boy's a Liar, Pt. 2” landed at No. 5, followed by SZA's “Kill Bill.” Sam Smith and Kim Petras, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Shakira, and Peso Pluma also had most-searched songs.
