Eddie Van Halen Was First Offered Dave Grohl’s Roll in ‘Bill & Ted

Eddie Van Halen was asked to appear in the science-fiction comedy movies, Bill & Ted, but turned it down every time.

The story was revealed by Alex Winter, who played Bill in the movies. He said, “When we got to Bill & Ted 3, we had a whole sequence which ended up being the Dave Grohl sequence. That was supposed to be at Van Halen’s house.”

He went on to say that the reason he said no to the last movie, was because he was already seriously ill.

Van Halen told him, “I really appreciate these films. We all love them. And if I wasn't sick, I would absolutely come down to New Orleans and shoot this with you.'

The movie was released in August of 2020 and Eddie Van Halen died two months later.
