Squeeze and the Psychedelic Furs have just rolled out a 26-city late-summer and fall tour. The two new wave legends launch the trek on September 8th at New York City's Radio City Music Hall and wind things down on October 14th in Las Vegas at the Palms.
Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook recalled being estranged from co-founder and songwriting partner Chris Difford for nearly a decade only made him enjoy and respect their relationship more: “Not working together has enabled us to appreciate each other for what we are. And not having the responsibility of going up each other's noses all the time has enabled us to get back our relationship, which was lost, really, when we started making records. I would rather have the relationship with Chris, and friendship, rather than the professional relationship — that's more important to me. And we get on better now than we have done at, y'know, any point since 1976, which is great.”
Although the Psychedelic Furs still play many of their hits, including the classic “Pretty In Pink,” frontman Richard Butler wants people to remember the song as a separate entity from the iconic movie of the same name: “Now, I'd like to remind them that the song was actually written in 1982 and the movie was made in 1985, so, uh, try and get rid of that picture of Molly Ringwald that (laughs) you've got in your head when you listen to the song — pleeeese!”
