Following the death of co-founder, Gary Rossington and lots of speculation from fans, Lynyrd Skynyrd has made some decisions about the future of the band.
In a press statement on Monday (4-3) they announced that the Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour featuring ZZ Top will go on as scheduled. It will kick off July 21 in West Palm Beach, Florida and run through the end of September. After that, they’ll tour in Brazil.
The current members of the band, led by Johnny Van Zant, the singer for the past 36 years, were unsure if they would continue following Rossington’s death. After much discussion with the band, the families of Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins, and Dale Rossington, the collective feel that keeping the music alive, is in the best interest of the fans and everyone involved.
