Metallica's 1991 classic, “Enter Sandman” has been streamed over one billion times on Spotify. The “Black Album” favorite is the 28th song to pass the billion download mark.

“Enter Sandman” was the lead single pulled from Metallica's self-titled fifth album, known as the “Black Album,” and has gone to become a staple of the band's concerts as well as rock and classic rock radio. Former bassist Jason Newsted admitted to us he wasn't sure about the song at first: “To me, it didn't register until we played it in front of people, really. I mean, I knew the radio liked it and all that kind of thing, but until you're right there and the crowd is louder than the PA, doing that thing, that's how you find out, is by everybody clapping along to it and singing along to it. That's how you get to know you've succeeded.”
