Muse is dropping bits of information about their next album and if you can judge a song by its title, the track list is politically charged. A couple other song titles on Will of the People are “Liberation,” and “Kill or Be Killed.”
The band said the recordings were influenced by the “increasing uncertainty and instability in the world.”
In a statement about their new single, “Compliance,” they said, “it’s about submission to authoritarian rules and reassuring untruths just to be accepted to an in-group, such as gangs, governments, demagogues, and social media…”
